The 3Mâ¢ Hookitâ¢ Film D/F Disc 360L is constructed of fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a durable film backing and works well for fine sanding on plastics, gel coats, and polyurethane solid surface substrates where dust collection is preferred. The sturdy film backing provides the durability needed for a high-production environment, and its excellent resistance to edge tearing increases the life of the disc over discs with standard A-weight paper backings. At the same time, the film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish, making it a good choice for applications such as spot repairs, sanding plastic parts, paint feathering on defects, or sanding automotive primer.
The five-hole design enables a vacuum system hooked up to the tool to suck dust away from the workpiece for a dust-free work environment. To help reduce loading on the disc, the disc has open coat construction without a load-resistant stearate coating. The convenient Hookit hook-and-loop attachment on the backing enables easy re-use so the disc can be used again and again for the life of the product, and attaches to a low-profile 3Mâ¢ Hookitâ¢ Disc Pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander.
The 5-hole pattern dust-management system uses a series of evenly-spaced holes in the abrasive that are aligned with the holes in the disc pad. When a vacuum system is attached, the suction produced draws air through the holes to help collect the dust from the air and on the workpiece, for improved working conditions and increasing productivity.
