One or more sheets (please select size and quantity, above) of 3M 8153LE 300LSE adhesive transfer tape, more commonly called "double-sided adhesive." The designation "300LSE" is the name of the particular adhesive, that is, the sticky material. "8153LE" is 3M's model number that specifies which adhesive is used (here: 300LSE) and how that adhesive is "packaged." 3M sells more than 10 differently packaged versions, all using the same 300LSE. 3M's 8153LE product is packaged as a single layer of 300LSE adhesive, protected by liners on both sides. 300LSE bonds extremely well with metal, wood, plastics, hard leather, fabrics, rubber, and even with Acrylic and other so-called "Low Surface Energy" (hence the "LSE" designation) plastics that don't bond well with most other glues. The adhesive layer is 3.5 mil thick and for smooth as well as for lightly textured and/or lightly porous surfaces. The second illustration above is a comparison chart published by 3M that shows how 300LSE compares to other 3M double-sided adhesives with regard to adhesion to different materials.WARNING: 3M's 8153LE product is meant for industrial processing, not for cutting with knives or scissors. If sheets of 8153LE are cut with a knife or with scissors, then, under the pressure of the cutting edge, a tiny amount of the adhesive oozes out from between the two liners and bonds with the sides of the liners, along the cut. As a result, when trying to peel off one of the liners, the two liners stick together along the edge. This undesirable effect is frustrating for users who wish to cut 8153LE sheets by hand. However, we have developed a work-around for the oozing problem. This procedure works very well for a few straight cuts and is described in the printed instructions included with this product. Yet, if you plan on making many small or irregular cuts, we offer a better product: 9474LE (see RELATED OFFERS, above).
