About products and suppliers

Line array speakers are loudspeaker systems with multiple similar loudspeakers stacked together to produce controlled and focused sound over a large area. Line speaker arrays cater to larger venues and audiences.

How do line array speakers work?

Array speakers use constructive interference, which is the addition of amplitudes of waves because they have the same phase. This provides controlled, focused, and directed sound dispersion. When sound propagates through space, sound intensity decreases with distance, so audiences at the back of a venue will hear muffled sounds. Several similar loudspeakers are aligned at specific vertical angles. This vertical arrangement causes constructive interference in the horizontal domain, enabling sound to reach the back. It diminishes vertical dispersion due to the cancellation of waves, so sound energy is not wasted by going toward the ceilings or above the venue. A well-structured array speaker system provides controlled wide dispersion along the horizontal/forward plane and narrow vertical dispersion along with long horizontal sound projection. This distribution allows the sound to reach farther in large venues. Line arrays allow direction, phase, and amplitude control as desired.

What are the types of line array speakers?

Various alignment types of line array speakers are available to cater to multiple requirements. Straight-line arrays are arranged vertically, providing basic functionality suitable for low to moderate frequencies. Curved line arrays have curved loudspeakers stacked together to produce a curved design, providing better sound coverage and specific dispersion patterns favorable for larger venues. Column array speakers have small speakers stacked in a column within one speaker box, providing a compact solution for smaller setups, ideal for discrete background sounds. Hybrid Arrays combine configurations, speakers, and drivers to cater to multiple frequencies, providing optimal performance. Spiral and J-type arrays are modern forms of curvilinear combinations. Active line array speakers combine a built-in digital processor, amplifier, and speaker, providing a well-rounded sound system for the outdoors. They are unlike passive arrays, which require external amplifiers and signal processors. Active line array speakers are rightly called powered line array speakers, providing an all-in-one solution. Portable line array system allows easy transportation. It is lightweight, battery-powered, and compact, thereby making it easy to carry and install anywhere.

What are the benefits of line array speakers?

Line array speakers provide many benefits, mostly controlled and directional sound dispersal. They cater to larger venues as they disperse sound to longer horizontal distances. Column array speakers are well-suited for smaller venues. The main benefit of line array speakers is that they can be adjusted to provide efficient coverage to the entire venue without compromising quality. Their ease of installation also offers convenience for various setups.
